Featured Verdict: Wrongful Termination
Gonzalez v. Swisswport SA, et al. (Los Angeles Super Ct. No. BC685391): On February 18, 2010 a Los Angeles jury reached a verdict of $1,050,000 on behalf of plaintiff Alejandro Gonzalez and against defendant Swissport SA. Plaintiff alleged that he was wrongfully terminated by his longtime air transport employer after they refused to accommodate a physical disability. Plaintiff suffered a thoracic aortic aneurysm while at work, which landed him in a one-month long coma after having aortic valve surgery. After recovering, he attempted to return to work but was informed by Swissport SE that he was no longer employed, and terminated his health benefits. Plaintiff was represented by the R. Rex Parris Law Firm.
