Katie N. Simers is an associate attorney with Poole Shaffery & Koegle, LLP, where she focuses on civil litigation, defending clients in transportation, premises liability, and general liability matters.
Born and raised in northeast Ohio, Ms. Simers graduated with honors from The University of Akron, with an undergraduate degree in Public Relations. After moving to Southern California, she focused her efforts in serving the Santa Clarita Valley community while working at a local nonprofit as the Executive Assistant & Public Relations Coordinator for nearly five years, before making the decision to pursue her legal education.
Ms. Simers completed her Juris Doctor at Loyola Law School, Los Angeles. While at Loyola, Ms. Simers’ writing and editing skills earned her a place on the Loyola of Los Angeles Law Review, first as a Staff Editor, and then as the Chief Production Editor for the journal. In 2018, she was further honored to have her article selected for publication in Volume 51 of Loyola of Los Angeles Law Review. To hone her trial and oral advocacy skills, Ms. Simers was selected to participate in Loyola’s year-long Poehls/Hobbs District Attorney Practicum, where she was able to gain courtroom and trial experience, and successfully argued motions in court under the supervision of a licensed attorney. Additionally, while a student Ms. Simers gained experience as a law clerk at two civil litigation firms, including a personal injury and premises liability focused firm and a business litigation focused firm.
After graduation, Ms. Simers spent a year working as an associate at the Law Offices of Dale K. Galipo, where she focused on civil rights, personal injury and wrongful death cases. While with the firm, Ms. Simers was able to learn and refine her civil litigation, mediation, research, and writing skills with guidance from a top civil rights and award-winning trial attorney, Mr. Galipo.
