Salazar v. Magic Gourmet Trading Company Inc. (San Francisco Super Ct. No. CGC-19-579283): On August 5, 2020 the parties reached a $3.9 million settlement regarding a matter where 79 year old plaintiff Julio Salazar sustained catastrophic personal injury after being struck as a pedestrian by a commercial truck driven by an employee of defendant Magic Gourmet Trading Company Inc. Plaintiffs argued that Julio’s life expectancy was reduced by one year due to his injuries, and also sought compensation for loss of consortium. Plaintiff additionally argued that the accident was caused due to the negligent operation of the truck by defendant’s employee. Defendant denied the contentions and argued that the brakes on the truck failed, which caused the employee to lose control of the truck. Plaintiff was represented by O’Keefe & O’Keefe LLP.
