Bio

Michael R. Fostakowsky is a member of the employment and labor law department of Poole Shaffery. Mr. Fostakowsky obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Santa Clara University and his J.D. from Golden Gate University School of Law.

With a focus on employment and labor litigation, he represents employers and employees, in a variety of industries, in discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, wage and hour matters, as well as Labor Code violations. Mr. Fostakowsky spent the first decade of his practice litigating consumer, catastrophic injury, and employment matters on behalf of aggrieved employees. As a result, Mr. Fostakowsky brings a unique perspective to Poole Shaffery, helping defend employers in such claims by employing a pragmatic and practical approach to each dispute.

Mr. Fostakowsky has significant experience litigating employment matters in state and federal courts, having taken several such matters to verdict, and successfully resolving hundreds more through mediation or informal resolution. Mr. Fostakowsky has similarly represented parties before the California Department of Labor Standards Enforcement, the Department of Fair Employment & Housing, as well as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

Mr. Fostakowsky has been recognized as a Rising Star by Super Lawyers for 2017-2020. He is also a member of the California State Bar Labor and Employment Section, Los Angeles County Bar Association Labor and Employment Section, the Santa Clarita Valley Bar Association, and serves as the co-chair of the Employment Group of Themis Advocates Group.
