Flores, et al. v. City of Burbank, et al. (Los Angeles Super Ct. No. 19STCV02043): The City of Burbank agreed to the terms of a $10 million settlement to resolve an action wherein plaintiff Valerie Flores was struck and injured by a falling palm tree as she was riding as a passenger in a car on West Olive Avenue. The City of Burbank argued that they had no knowledge of the dangerous condition and presented evidence demonstrating that the tree had been struck by lightning on the night of the incident, arguing that it was an act of God. Plaintiffs were represented by Panish, Shea, Boyle & Ravipudi LLP.
