Featured Settlement : Employment Law

Daniel Marko, et al. v. Doordash Inc (Los Angeles Super Ct. No. BC659841): On July 12, 2021, defendant Doordash Inc agreed to the terms of a $100 million settlement to resolve the claims from multiple consolidated matters, brought by class action plaintiffs in a wage dispute. Class members alleged that Doordash Inc misclassified its drivers erroneously as independent contractors, resulting in multiple wage-related violations. Defendant denied the allegations but agreed to the terms of the settlement. In doing so, Doordash Inc also agreed to implement a new pay model that ensures that drivers are paid every dollar of the tips they receive for deliveries, and that the amount paid by Doordash Inc to drivers will not vary based on the amount of tip received. Plaintiffs were represented by the Law Offices of Todd M. Friedman PC; Lichten & Liss-Riordan PC; Aegis Law Firm PC and Capstone Law APC.
