Beltran, et al. v. Olam Spices and Vegetables Inc. (USDC Eastern District No. 1:18-cv-01676-NONE-SAB): On June 4, 2021, defendant Olam Spices and Vegetables agreed to the terms of $4.5 million settlement to resolve a class action claim filed by employees who alleged violations of the California Labor Code, unfair business practices and violation of the California Public Attorney General Act. Plaintiffs alleged that Olam required employees to perform work while off the clock, to work during their meal and rest periods and that Olam failed to compensate employees for work performed during meal and rest periods. Plaintiffs additionally alleged that Olam failed to provide accurate wage statements upon termination and that employees were not reimbursed for expenses incurred while on the job. Defendant denied all allegations. Plaintiffs were represented by Lawyers for Justice PC.
