$2.95 Million Settlement Reached in Data Breach Case Against STIIIZY
In re: STIIIZY Inc. Data Breach Security Litigation(U.S. District Court, Central District of California, Case No. 2:25-cv-00490-GW-SSC): On May 28, 2026, the court granted preliminary approval of a $2.95 million class action settlement involving allegations that STIIIZY Inc. failed to adequately safeguard consumers' personal information following a data breach occurring between October 10 and November 10, 2024.
Plaintiffs alleged that an unauthorized third party gained access to sensitive personal information due to inadequate cybersecurity measures. The consolidated litigation asserted claims including negligence, invasion of privacy, breach of implied consent, unjust enrichment, and violations of California consumer protection and privacy laws, including the California Consumer Privacy Act and Confidentiality of Medical Information Act. STIIIZY denied liability and disputed plaintiffs' allegations.
Following mediation on November 17, 2025, the parties reached a settlement in principle, ultimately agreeing to establish a $2.95 million non-reversionary common fund to resolve the litigation, subject to final court approval.
Plaintiffs were represented by Clarkson Law Firm PC and Cotchett, Pitre & McCarthy LLP. Defendant STIIIZY Inc. was represented by Bird Marella LLP.
