$10 Million Verdict Issued Against Scaffolding Company in Premises Liability Case

Redwood Fire and Casualty Insurance Company v. Sunland Scaffold Inc. (Orange County Super Ct. No. 30-2023-01333426-CU-PO-CJC): On January 29, 2026, a jury rendered a verdict of $10.2 million against scaffolding manufacturer Sunland Scaffold, Inc. The underlying matter involved injuries that carpenter Domingo Berumen suffered after falling from a scaffolding manufactured by Sunland Scaffold, Inc. at a construction site. After allowing a $1 million CCP 998 offer to expire and after a 5-day trial, the jury returned a unanimous verdict finding Sunland Scaffold 100 percent responsible for the accident. Plaintiff was represented by Capalbo Daniel, PC. Defendant was represented by Yee & Associates.
