Los Angeles Community College District Agrees to Pay $27.3 Million Settlement in Contract Dispute

Pinner Construction Co. Inc. v. Los Angeles Community College District (Los Angeles Super Court No. 01-24-0003-4612): On December 17, 2025 the Los Angeles Community College District agreed to pay $27.3 million to Pinner Construction Co. over a contract dispute associated with the construction of a 125,000 square foot performing arts center at Valley College. Construction of the project was delayed for years, with Pinner Construction eventually suing to recover damages that the district claimed to be contractually limited and/or barred. Plaintiff was represented by Watt, Tieder, Hoffar & Fitzgerald LLP. Defendant was represented by Orbach, Huff & Henderson LLP.
