Trader Joes Hit With $23.5 Million Verdict in Slip and Fall Case

Zahra Garraee v. Trader Joes Company, et al. (Stanislaus County Super Ct. No. CV-21-005695): On October 3, 2025 a jury entered a verdict of 23.5 million in favor of plaintiff Zahra Garraee, who suffered a slip and fall accident while shopping at a Trader Joe’s store in Modesto, California.. Plaintiff was shopping in the produce department when she slipped and fell, hitting her head on a shopping cart which resulted in a traumatic brain injury. A jury attributed 100 percent fault to Trader Joe’s, finding that the store was negligent. Plaintiff was represented by Levin & Nalbandyan LLP. Defendants were represented by McLean, Vasquez, Place & Fabrega APC and Kahana Feld LLP.
