Biotech Company Agrees to Terms of $4.75 Million Settlement in Class Action Wage and Hour Claim

Serg Ramirez, et al. v. Baxalta US Inc. (Los Angeles Super Ct. No. 21STCV07572): On August 8, 2023 defendant Baxalta US Inc, a bio-tech company, agreed to the terms of a $4.75 million settlement to resolve the wage and hour claims set forth in a class action suit filed by lead plaintiff Serg Ramirez. Plaintiffs alleged a variety of claims including failure to pay overtime; failure to reimburse for business expenses; failure to pay minimum wages; failure to timely pay wages upon termination; failure to provide itemized earning statements and failure to provide meal and rest periods. Plaintiff agreed to settle the matter without admitting violating any laws after attending a mediation session. Plaintiffs were represented by Captone Law APC. Defendant was represented by Seyfarth Shaw LLP.
