Personal Injury
Ariell Kirylo v. City of Los Angeles, et al. (Los Angeles Super Ct. No. 22STCV16621): On March 26, 2025 the City of Los Angeles agreed to the terms of a $1.5 million settlement to resolve a claim regarding a tree that fell and injured a driver in the North Hollywood area. Plaintiff Ariell Kirylo was driving her vehicle in North Hollywood when a 30’ tree fell onto her vehicle, caving in her roof while causing her catastrophic injuries including a traumatic brain injury, spinal fracture and fractured ribs. Plaintiff alleged that the property owners and the city of Los Angeles were aware of the diseased condition of the tree and that they had failed to perform the proper maintenance on it. Defendants denied liability prior to the settlement. The City of Los Angeles paid $1,000,000 of the settlement while the property owners paid the remaining $500,000. Plaintiff was represented by Child & Marton LLP. Defendants were represented by the Office of the Los Angeles City Attorney and Demler, Armstrong & Rowland, LLP.
