Costco Wholesale Agrees to $8.25 Million Settlement to Resolve Class Action Wage And Hour Case

Silverio Nevarez, et al. v. Costco Wholesale Corporation, et al. (Los Angeles Super Ct. No. 19STCV10017): On May 3, 2022 defendant Costco Wholesale agreed to the terms of an $8.25 million settlement to resolve the claims brought forth by Costco closing-shift warehouse employees alleging wage and hour violations. Plaintiffs alleged a number of allegations including that Costco detained employees after their shifts were over; failed to pay overtime wages; failed to pay minimum wages; failed to pay wages due upon separation; failed to provide accurate wage statements and engaged in unfair business practices. Defendant denied all liability leading up to the resolution of the matter.
