Brian E. Koegle is a partner with the law firm of Poole & Shaffery, LLP. With a focus on labor and employment law, he provides counsel to employers in a large number of industries with regard to hiring practices, employment contracts, wage and hour issues, compensation, discipline and termination matters. Mr. Koegle is a graduate of The Ohio State University and Southwestern University School of Law, where he was a member of the Interscholastic Trial Advocacy Honors Program.

He has represented employers in union grievance, arbitration and dispute resolution procedures and has defended a wide range of employment discrimination and fair employment practice cases. In addition, he has assisted employers in the design, drafting, modification and implementation of personnel policies, procedures and employee handbooks and with performance of personnel policy audits. Mr. Koegle has guided employers in respect to all aspects of wage and hour compliance, leaves of absence, including family and medical leaves, alcohol and drug rehabilitation leaves, and leaves involving pregnancy-related disabilities. He also has written several published articles on labor and employment-related matters and is a frequent speaker on these issues.

Mr. Koegle also has experience in workplace-related litigation including alleged unsafe workplaces due to exposure to toxic substances. He has counseled business owners with regard to a variety of business and commercial disputes and has first chair trial experience in Southern California courts litigating those matters.

Mr. Koegle is a member of the Labor and Employment Sections of the California State Bar and the Los Angeles County Bar Association, and is a member of the Santa Clarita Valley Bar Association. Further, Mr. Koegle currently serves on the Board of Directors for the SCV Youth Project, the Volunteer Resource Center of Santa Clarita Valley, and is a member of the College of the Canyons Measure “M” Citizens’ Oversight Committee. Mr. Koegle is also very active in JCI Santa Clarita Valley (Junior Chamber of Commerce), the Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce and the Valley Industrial Association of Santa Clarita.

Further, Mr. Koegle is a graduate of the Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce’s “Leadership Santa Clarita Valley Training Program” and was named one of the 2005 “40 Under 40” by the San Fernando Valley Business Journal, which recognizes outstanding achievement by young professionals under the age of 40 in North Los Angeles County.
