On August 1, 2018, the Santa Clarita Valley Economic Development Corporation
hosted a Minimum Wage Forum at the College of the Canyons. The Minimum
Wage Forum was sponsored by Poole & Shaffery, LLP. Brian E. Koegle,
a partner at Poole & Shaffery, delivered some key remarks as a member
of the panel of presenters that were present at the Forum.
In particular, Mr. Koegle addressed certain important updates in California
employment laws, namely with regards to overtime pay, exempt vs. non-exempt
employees, paid sick leave and employee vs. independent contractor distinctions.
Mr. Koegle addressed his comments to a large audience of business leaders
and HR professionals across numerous industries here in the Santa Clarity Valley.
Poole & Shaffery’s sponsorship of, as well as Mr. Koegle’s
participation in, the Minimum Wage Forum symbolizes the firm’s ongoing
mission to serve as a vital resource to the City of Santa of Clarita as
well as its residents and the local business community.
