Featured Verdict: Jury Hits Billionaire Alki David With $11 Million Verdict For Sexual Harassment
On April 26, 2019, a Los Angeles County Jury found that Alki David, owner of FilmOn, Inc. and Hologram USA, sexually harassed Chasity Jones over the course of her one year of employment. She testified that David forced her to watch a repulsive sexual fetish video, made repeated sexually inappropriate statements to her around the office, made unwanted physical contact, including toughing her vaginal area, and made repeated sexually offensive statements and behavior around the office. Jones also testified that on one occasion, David, held a female coworker, Elizabeth Taylor, upside down and reveal her underwear. Jones also witnessed this event.
Defendants had contended that Jones never complained until after her termination and generally denied that anything wrongful occurred.
The jury agreed with Jones and awarded her $3.1 million in compensatory damages and $8 million in punitive damages.
