Rosemarie Martinez, et al. v. La Bahn Ranch, et al. (Calif Super Ct. Los Angeles Cty. No. BC617733): On October 11, 2018 a jury awarded $6.3 million in damages to Rosemarie Martinez, widower and against Whittier Uptown Association Farmer’s Market. Plaintiff’s husband Armando Martinez was shopping at the Whittier Uptown Association Farmer’s Market when he was fatally struck by a vehicle being driven by Maria Acuna, an employee of the market. Plaintiffs alleged causes of action for negligence, negligence per se and negligent hiring. Defendants disputed the allegations. Plaintiffs were represented by Panish, Shea & Boyle LLP.
