FEATURED SETTLEMENT: Saechao v. City of Sacramento

Saechao v. City of Sacramento (Calif. Super. Ct. Sacramento City. No. 34-2014-00167131): In July, 2017, The City of Sacramento agreed to pay a $9.75 million settlement to the Plaintiffs, the Saechao family, for the death of their infant child. On December 17, 2013, The Saechao’s family car, while at a complete stop on Highway 80 due to traffic, was struck by a Sacramento Police Officer, who was travelling 65mph at the time of the crash. Raiden, the Saechao’s 9 month old infant child, sustained serious head trauma and was hospitalized for five days, passing away shortly before Christmas. After three years of litigation, the City of Sacramento agreed to the record-setting settlement, believed to be the highest for an infant death in California. The City of Sacramento was represented by Skane Wilcox LLP. The plaintiffs were represented by The Demas Law Group, P.C.
