Cecilie E. Read is Counsel in the labor & employment practice group at Poole & Shaffery, LLP. Ms. Read focuses her practice on representing employers in litigation matters such as wage and hour, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and wrongful termination claims. She also provides counsel and advice to management on employment issues ranging from discipline practices and procedures, hiring and firing best practices, reductions-in-force/layoffs, and various leaves of absence.
While in law school, Ms. Read received the Public Interest Grant to work for Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles and she clerked for the Writs and Appeals Division of the California Attorney General during her third year of law school.
While awaiting admission to the California Bar, Ms. Read worked as a law clerk in the Employment Law Department of Paul, Hastings, Janfosky & Walker, aiding in discovery for class action and wrongful termination matters.
Ms. Read has handled a myriad of insurance defense litigation and arbitration matters including homeowners' insurance coverage and premise liability insurance defense. She also has experience in trademark protection and contract review and negotiations.
Ms. Read is a member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association.
