Andrew M. Sevanian is an associate attorney in the Business Counseling, Business Transactions and Intellectual Property departments of Poole & Shaffery, LLP.
Mr. Sevanian focuses on general business and corporate law as well as trademark law. Prior to joining Poole & Shaffery, Mr. Sevanian worked in private practice by representing clients in numerous industries on a wide range of transactional legal matters, including business formation and governance, mergers and acquisitions, capital raises and securities compliance, trademark protection, employment agreements, services agreements, licensing agreements, and various business agreements. Mr. Sevanian has experience maintaining extensive trademark portfolios and representing clients on matters of trademark clearance, registration, prosecution, enforcement, licensing and foreign filings (via foreign agents).
Mr. Sevanian is a former judicial extern at the California Supreme Court, where Mr. Sevanian assisted California Chief Justice Tani G. Cantil-Sakauye on pervasive legal issues affecting the entire State of California. Mr. Sevanian also worked as a summer law clerk at the Pasadena City Attorney's Office.
Mr. Sevanian received his Juris Doctor from Hofstra University School of Law, where he was a merit scholar, moot court champion, Associate Editor of the Hofstra Moot Court Board, and Vice President of the Hofstra Sports & Entertainment Law Society. During his final year of law school, Mr. Sevanian attended UCLA School of Law as a visiting law student. At UCLA Law, Mr. Sevanian won the 62nd Annual Roscoe Pound Moot Court Championship, became a published author in the UCLA Entertainment Law Review, and earned the designation of team leader in the UCLA Sports Law Clinic; where Mr. Sevanian worked under the guidance of attorneys from the Los Angeles Dodgers and Toyota Motor Company. Through the UCLA Sports Law Clinic, Mr. Sevanian honed his skills in transactional law while gaining valuable experience on how to draft and negotiate a major sponsorship deal involving sweepstakes, promotions, intellectual property, corporate, entertainment, media and sports law.
Mr. Sevanian received his Bachelor of Arts, Magna Cum Laude, from the University of Southern California. At USC, Mr. Sevanian studied communication and cinema-television. Prior to his legal career, Mr. Sevanian worked in the motion picture industry at DreamWorks and Paramount Pictures; where he witnessed the rise and fall of multimillion-dollar movie deals. From this experience, Mr. Sevanian gained an in-depth understanding of the importance of intellectual property, contracts, the laws of business, and how the life of a deal frequently turns on these subjects. Now, as a practicing attorney, Mr. Sevanian utilizes his collective experiences to help his clients succeed.
Mr. Sevanian was admitted to the State Bar of California in December of 2013. He is a member of the American Bar Association, Los Angeles County Bar Association, Beverly Hills Bar Association and the Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Sevanian also volunteers as a member of the Regional Leadership Council of the American Cancer Society.
